Round 7&8: Influencer Marketing

Now this was interesting, I was curious to find out how they would put this in a simulation, and what I would learn from it.

Right off the bat, I tried to negotiate with the Mega influencers, but I offered prices that were too low, and I exceeded my chances of negotiating with them. Then, I tried the Macro influencers, but I could only afford to get them to do 2 posts, and I felt like that was too little. So, I reached out to the micro influencers, and managed to cinch a deal with them!

Only after running the simulation did I realize that when I paid for 5 posts, it meant 5 posts per influencer. So in the end, I got 15 posts, which was pretty great.

I decided to go with the World Travelers for a couple of reasons.

1. Their interest were in line with two of my target groups: City-Hopper Sue and Daypacker Tom. These interests included: Travel, Adventures.

2. They had the greatest amount of followers on Instagram compared to the rest of the micro influencers.

3. They had a good ratio of male to female audience

Round 9&10: Influencer Marketing

I got another round to try out Influencer Marketing. This time round, I selected "Social Media Takeover" strategy than "Brand Ambassador" and "Branded Content", and it performed better!

It gave me $20k in revenue, whereas "Brand Ambassador" brought me $11k, and "Branded Content" gave $5k

reflection

Negotiating with the influencers was tough for me, I felt that it didn't make a lot of profit for me compared to posting on my own brand's social media. However, the whole process was fun!

Round 11 & 12: Ad Targeting

This was my final round, and I wanted to make it count!

With this data, I geared my content towards different genders. I altered my captions, and pictures based on the gender. For platforms such as Instagram and Facebook where there was almost an equal divide between genders, I made different posts for each gender. It was tedious, but worth it!

what did i think about mimic social?

I thought that it was a great simulation to test out being a Social Media Marketing intern. It was interactive and fun, and it really got me thinking. The rounds were a little confusing however, because some of the instructions given weren't clear enough, and some details weren't explained.

what's the biggest key to success in this?

Definitely analyzing the data given to you. I appreciated how there was plenty of data to analyze and to learn from. Another factor would be to take risks such as negotiating with the influencers. Don't be afraid to go big.

if i were to repeat the simulation, what would i do differently?

I would experiment more with what I chose, and I would pull up the revenue from my Round 1 & 3 because that really pulled down my overall revenue!
